Default Ash Tray removal?

I have been searching this site high and low for a complete walk-through of how to get my ash tray out. I have found stereo, console, climate, and arm rest but no ash tray walk-through.

I just need to know step by step the EASIEST way to get the ash tray out of my 96' SC400.

It won't open all the way like something is inside of it or in the hinge. I was told the best was is to take it out to get it clear again.

I am not looking for the standard "search away rookie" flaming. If someone could please help I would really appriciate it!

Thanks

please dont try pulling it you will break the center console .ok this is what you do .
1. pull out the cup holder and loosen both screws
2.take out shifter and shifter trim and you will find the rest of the screws to take out the trim .pull gently and it should come out

the ashtray itself just pops out, no tools needed. If thats what youre talking about and it wont come out maybe its stuck on something... if youre talking about the whole thing then listen to him^^^

hahahhahahahahahhahaha but the easiest way to find a good write-up is to find a stereo removal thread and then get to the ashtray that way

You guys are nuts with the CrowBar. LOLOLOLOL!

So anyway, the door to the ash tray wont open at all. So I cant use my lighter/power port. I dont really care about the dang ash tray.

The door wont open like something is in it. Its not stiff, rather stuck.

I thank you all for the advice so far, I will prolly have to wait till much later tonight to get to it or give it a whirl tomorrow. I think I can get a crow bar from my dad's house tomorrow

Sounds to me like something was placed into it....and then the door was shut. The object is prohibiting the door from opening.

Sucks.

I couldnt agree more. What bugs me is when people own a quality car
and don't take the time to properly take care of it. Makes me sick.

The link is great, Thanks!

However, it only says "remove the ash try."

How is it held in place? I can't see any screws or clips that need to be removed. I just dont want to break it on it's way out.

Anyone?
