Default A few questions...

Hi, I am the proud new owner of a 1995 Lexus SC400. The pearl white exterior is literally flawless.. no scratches, dings, dents, chips, NOTHING.

The interior is a bit less attractive. The leather seats in the front (tan) are in pretty bad condition. The carpet is loose under the sills, I figure that's an easy enough fix. It has that infamous crack in the A/C Bezel.. All the gauges and interior lights work perfectly, climate control, needles, everything.

So I picked up some new seats on E-Bay for $400 with perfect leather. I figure once those are installed and the rest of the interior cleaned and the carpet fixed, the car will be near flawless, aesthetically speaking..

With 160k on the motor, it still runs perfectly. It has all the power It should and it doesn't have any ticking/knocking/pinging at all, even at redline. The transmission shifts smoothly and engages well, it's not too eager and it doesn't clunk at all. The only thing I noticed was a slight vibration from just above idle to about 3k. I am assuming that has something to do with worn mounts?

1. $5,000 did I get an alright deal?

2. Would you agree that the vibration is most likely motor mounts/tranny mounts?

3. how much should I expect to pay to have the mounts replaced all around?

4. is there anything else I should be wary of or inspect?

thanks in advance for any advice!

Sounds OK.

yes.

Look up OLT's "Thanks to Carson" thread...(Or something like it) it has the whole breakdown on mounts.

Take a look a few threads below...the post about "Purchasing a SC"

Thanks, Yeah I love the color. I got really lucky with this car.

First order of business: Remove gold emblems, paint them black/gunmetal, re-attach. Pretty sure I've got the proper procedure down to do that.

2nd order of business: Polish headlights and cover with 3M

3rd: Install seats

and the list goes on...and on....and on.... I see where this is going.
