So yeah, I come out of Walmart (I stopped in the middle of a cross-country road trip, mind you) to find a nice shopping cart buried into the side of my car
I already made the insurance claim, so it'll be fixed, no worries.... But still... That's just not cool.


Oh.... If I could possibly get y'all's advice:
I took it around to get some estimates (3 were $750-$850-ish) before taking it to the 'premier' place in town that does a bunch of custom work and what not. The dude there said that it was a very nice car and he didn't wanna do a shoddy bondo job on it and wanted to put on a new door skin (Which sounds way better to me). The problem is that their estimate is like $1,450..... Is there any way I can get the insurance to pay for replacing the door skin?? Thanks in advance, and here's the

Oh yeah on that note... I was parked in the VERY LAST PARKING SPOT, the FARTHEST away from the door possible. It just so happens that since there were no cars, the shopping basket had the WHOLE walmart parking lot to pick up speed in >-(.

That sucks...that is my biggest car etiquette pet peeve. I watched a guy door my VR4 once, He even looked at the dent, knew he did it. Shrugged his shoulders with an "Oh Well" and walked in. I said nothing to him.....He wasn't able to drive his home that night.

you can get your insurance to pay for a new door shell, its just gonna cost you your deductible amount. If your deductible is $1000 you will pay that and insurance will pick up the $450.

Yeah, had one exactly like it on my door when i bought the car. If life were fair, the car abuse police would jump out and handcuff the goof. BTW, its still on the door.

You may not believe this but..... If the paint is not cracked, a very good experienced Door Ding Guy maybe able to take that out.

Well thanks for the words of encouragement y'all! Thankfully I had it set up to where my deductible is only $100, but the paint is most definitely chipped, scratched AND cracked. I'm gonna try to get the insurance to cover the new door shell, but I've gotta justify to them why the place I'm taking it to estimated almost exactly twice what the other estimates were. Oh well!
