engine oil/filter change
Tried to do a search for this and came up with nothing for an sc300. Anybody here do their own oil/filter change?
I can see the oil filter and a bolt next to it. Don't tell me this is the oil drain plug. I haven't taken out the cover underneath yet.
Kinda bad design because when you take out the oil filter it'll drip all over the wires underneath it.
Can't trust a mechanic to do this. Looks like they'll make a mess.
Oil drain plug, where art thou be?
thanks,

For the SC300, it is NOT the bolt by the oil filter. It's underneath the car. You do not have to take any of the panels off to see it. It's towards the rear of the engine. Almost to the transmission.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I will do a write up on instructions for oil change for sc newbies after i do my first oil change. This is for the next guy/gal on the block with an sc. Got mine for about a month now.
thanks again,

Well, did my first oil/filter change over the weekend. It was a lot easier than i thought. I had one jack. Lifted the car up on the left side and took out the oil drain plug. It's located at the right side of the oil pan. Directions are from the driver's point of view. The oil pan is pretty close to the center of the car. You do not have to take any panels out to see it. I took out the oil filter and was surprised that a bunch of oil didn't spill out. There was some oil but not a whole lot. I didn't bother to take out the panels underneath because the oil didn't drip onto the panels. It's a fairly easy task to do.
