Default My Dyno sheet!

Well I went ahead and got a dyno today. Not what I was expecting, but good enough for now.

Best run was 410.4hp with 366.5 torque. As you see below the high end is terrible. Where you see it jumping up and down, the car is missing like crazy. I thought it was detonation before, but the guy had his head under the hood, and said that no, it's just missing. After talking a while, he said my problem is platinum plugs. With high compression, 13.1psi boost, they just won't fire right.

Someone had a Supra TT in there not long before me, and he told me they switched from platinum over ot Iridium plugs, and the guy got 22hp more!! Just because it wasn't missing.

You can see my first run netted 402.3hp - 356.2 torque. This was because the Air/Fuel ratio was a friggin 8:1!!! IT WAS RICH RICH RICH!! The A/F's are at the bottom. The second run I adjusted and got the ratio to 10.5:1, that gave me 404.5hp - 366torque. FINALLY I got it set right, to get 11.5:1 ratio, and I got the best run. These runs were all within a few minutes of each other, so the car didn't have a chance to cool down. Now that I know where to have the fuel set, I'll run the car from cold next time, and see what power I get!!

The runs were all 4th gear, going from no boost. I got the car into 4th at 1800rpms, then hit the button and floored it. So what you see there is a true graph of what it would look like if I was just cruising down the road in 4th at 35mph and punched it. I floored it and kept it there until redline.

So I'm going to get some iridium plugs, and put a MSD on there (he said that'll do wonders too), and I should gain another 20hp or so. Also I'm gonna go with a front mount intercooler, and gain another 20hp or so.

I must say tho...the people there were in amazement. And I think I sold another turbo kit for Lance...there was a guy that brings in his Grand National or something there, and has a SC300 that he's been wanting to turbo.

The guy beside my car did say it was rather awesome to see the car missing, because BIG flames were shooting out of the wastegate under the car...LOL

And I like having almost MAX torque in 4th gear from 65mph to 120mph.

And I forgot to mention about the fuel system...this is factory injectors. No additionals!!!

I first had the S-AFC adding 35% more fuel to the entire curve at WOT, thinking the factory injectors weren't pumping enough. Well needless to say 8:1 A/F ratio meant they were pumping PLENTY then. Here's the current setup on the S-AFC:

Low Throttle
1000rpm = -4% (so I don't get a puff of blue smoke when I take off from idle)
2000rpm = 0%
2500rpm = 0%
3000rpm = 0%
4000rpm = 0%
5000rpm = 0%
6000rpm = 0%
7000rpm = 0%

High Throttle
1000rpm = 0%
2000rpm = +5%
2500rpm = +8%
3000rpm = +8%
4000rpm = +8%
5000rpm = +8%
6000rpm = +8%
7000rpm = +8%

Throttle Points
Low - 20%
High - 50%

And this is with the factory 330 injectors, and NO ADDITIONALS. Easily pumping 400hp. Dude at the dyno said with the ratio as rich as I had it, I would be able to run about a 100 - 125shot of nitrous and the factory injectors would still support it...but at max load.

Anyone wanna buy my unused Haltech F5 fuel controller?

Just for y'alls info

OH YA...and something else neat I saw. The factory ECU retards the ignition automatically when you reach 5000rpms, and I saw that easily on my dyno. See above when I hit 80mph the HP dropped? That's when it started to retard it. It was right about 5100rpms or so. Kinda cool to see it in action.

Duh... What have I been telling you guys?????

5000RPM----THATS WHEN YOU START CRANKING THE BOOST!

Good numbers, though...

Oh ya...here's where I started at. Sorry I don't have one without nitrous... but oh well. This run was made before turbo, before tuneup, and with a 50shot of nitrous. So the best number here was 227.5hp - 246.6torque. Subtract 50hp for nitrous, and I was getting about 177.5hp. Just about right.

The new dyno's were just the engine/turbo....stay tuned for a new dyno run WITH nitrous in the next few weeks!!!
