Looking at a SC300
Hey guys, I have found a sc300 for sale for 11,500. It is a 97 and its a automatic..
I was just wondering what you guys thought of the price and if its a good deal?
The car has 72K miles.
Overall, I would say the car is pretty immaculate.
Also, it seems like a lot of people on this forum don't like the stock engine of the SC300? Why is that? HWen i drove it, it didn't seem that slow....

I seems that if the car is very clean and you like it , buy it. I bought my 2000 sc300 two months ago for 14k with 62,000 miles on it. I love it!!!!! I put about $800 in replacement parts and a tune up. I runs and looks great.
The engine has enough power for me because I don't feel like stuffing my car into a telephone pole.... I don't race. If you like to race then get an sc400. My mechanic owned at one time an sc400 but he says the sc300 engine is easier and less expensive to work on.
Everyone that buys an sc300 wishes they had the sc400 V8 engine. But sometimes you have to sacrifice something's in life. The sc300 is still a great car or Lexus would have not sold it for as long as they did. It just not as exciting or fast.

your answer was insightful. i am in a dilemma myself. I currently have a 90 LS with 235k. Its accumulated a lot of maint. issues that i'm ignoring with the mentality that i could probably try to kill this car and not be successful. so i'm thinking about getting a simple commuter car, maybe an old acura or prelude. but i love the sc, its just a hot car. so i think if i'm gonna get another car, why not get an sc300? for some reason gas prices are making feel i have to get something that will run on regular. i couldn't put that in the v8! that's insane! so i want to sell it. but i think i'd miss the power of the 8 so now i dont know if i should get an sc4 but then why not just put some loot into my ls and keep it! agh! what to do? prelude, integra, ls4, or sc 3? or sc4??

MCHolyG.....get a used car with low miles and put your money into the new car. Look for a car in good shape and that will be your best bang for the buck. Let the good condition and lower miles of a new used car pick you instead of you trying to pick out a car.
That's how I bought my SC300....I couldn't just walk away from a good buy on used car priced well and in very good condition.
