Default 1997+ SC Foglight replace DIY w/Pics

I replaced the stock halogens to Sylvania Silverstars (H3 bulb) so the color offset to my HIDs aren't as annoying. I figured since I found very little on the subject, to bring the camera along. Sorry if its a re-post.

I removed my entire fog light housing just to show you all what your dealing with...You can do this one of two ways.

1. Jack up the car, remove the plastic skid plate, change the bulb.
2. Reach in through the hole next to the fog light and do it all by feel.

No. 2 seems easy...when your looking at the pass side..Driver side has all sorts of AC plumbing you have to get around. Now it can be done...if you have small hands, and are good at feeling your way around.

Option 1. (Some pics are blurry...sorry.)

Jack up the car, use jack stands.
Start on the passenger side. Turn the steering wheel to the right.
Use a 10mm socket with a 6" extension.

With all the skid plate bolts removed, you can get underneath the car.
Pull back the Skid plate, You see the fog light, the bottom of your air-intake and side marker.

You can remove the entire fog light housing by going at the three 8mm bolts.

The next few pics are pretty self explanatory.

Once you've done the passenger side, doing the driver side will go easier.
If your planning on taking out your Driver side fog housing, your going to need an "wobbly" extension, to get around all the plumbing.

The Wire/Clip is released on the same side as the passenger housing. Only the 8mm bolt locations are mirrored.

I'll post pics of the fogs lit up, as soon as I'm out at night.

Not yet, I just ran and did some errands.

Looking at the front end, it looks better than stock...But it still sucks.

I think I'm going to go the Yellow Bulb route...maybe even 3000K....

HID fogs look gorgeous- I have hid's in my headlights and fogs. No, projectors are not needed.

Nice writeup.. changing fogs on these cars could get kinda annoying..

Bump. Great write up. Search is my friend!

I also want to do the H3 HID conversion for my foglights as well. Are most people matching the headlight HID's or running a different color temp?

That was a tough decision for me, but I ended up matching lows & fogs. The other option seems to be 4-6k lows and 3k (yellow) fogs...

Nice writeup! You'll love the Silverstars, I had those for the longest time until I went HID fogs...
