Default How to get rid of gap with aftermarket shift *****.

Ok I found a quick fix to get rid of the gap between the shift boot and after-market shift *****. Takes no more than 5 minutes.

Steps:
1. Buy some extra wide rubber washers with 1/2" hole from local home depot etc.
2. Scissors or something to cut the rubber washer. If the washers are too wide, trim it so it will fit underneath the top of the shift boot.

3. Un-screw your shift ****.

4. The shift boot is held in by 4 clips. Use a flat-head screw driver and carefully pry it off. Then place the rubber washer on the shifter.

5. Put the shift boot back on. And screw in your shift **** til it sits flush with the boot. It should look like this.

Here's a photo of my old stock shift ****.

Simple worm drive hose clamp works well also. Can be found at any auto-parts store. Good DIY.

your lineup of cars, excluding any exotics...
is prob perfect, wish there was a built jeep or truck though for some offroading fun

take that as a very high praise compliment

I appreciate that. I agree that I am definitely off-road challenged, but that is why I have my golf cart

We now return this thread to the regularly scheduled discussion about droopy shift boots

Yep, basically anything that can support the shift boot at a higher spot.

Well, I didn't want to put in a metal/aluminum shift ****, so decided with this one. Doesn't look as good as I thought, but oh well, at least its new.

I actually really wanted a nismo **** made for the 350z but didn't know if it had the same thread.

Haha, I was annoyed too but I took my cousin's 6 speed shift **** off his supra (since he wanted a brand new one) and now my friend plays with it as it was the reverse lock on the supras, haha and now im ok with it.
