cracked door handle
i know cracked door handle is a somewhat common problem for the SC300/400? would you have to replace the entire door panel or can you just buy the handle some where and replace that?
ps- yes i did a search before i posted this

i take it it's pretty easy to replace just the door handle? looks like the small plastic panel behind the door handle pops out and there is a phillips screw that comes off. i've done that but the door handle doesnt seem like it gets loose from that at all.
so is there another way to take off the door handle?

- remove the whole door panel. (1 screw behind handle, 2 screws under armrest, 3 screws on very bottom of panel, and 2 screws towards the door jamb).
- pull out power window/mirror switch and unplug harnesses.
- reach down and pull out courtesy light harness.
- use a screwdriver to pop off the two cables for the handle and lock.
- use a 8mm to undo the handle.
(while you're at it, use the same 8mm socket to tighten up the wood trims. they get loose after some years.)
* handles are like $45 at the dealer. and i think the older 92-94 ones say 'LOCK' on them, while the newer ones dont.

got the door panel/s off (replacing upper and door handle). thanks for the post on taking it off, was much helpful
there were a lot of cracked plastic brackets. so i'm going to have to reinforce it back with some JB weld before i put it all back.
glad i'm able to do this now, it's not too bad and thx again for the help!

yeah, once you do it the first time, you'll be able to have the panel off in seconds. and trust me, you'll have to get back in there eventually.

haha thanks but damn that's not what i wanted to hear! (going back in there again)
do you take the window panels off first or does it come off after you get the door panel (lower) off? mine kind of came out together but then again there were a bunch of cracked plastic pieces everywhere. lol
