Buying a 92 SC300
This weekend I am purchasing a 1992 SC300, and was wondering what kind of things/common problems I should look for. The owner told me the only thing it needs mechanically is a fuel pump ecu, which after doing a little research on here seems to be pretty common. Other than that it looks to be in good shape, aside from some body damage to the rear quarter panel (pic enclosed). Owner said he will take $2000 for it considering the mileage (200k) and damage.. is this a good price?
Thanks in advance for your feedback, I really hope this works out because the SC is such a sexy car and I have wanted one for as long as I can remember. Let me know what y'all think!

Right on. 1500 is what I'll offer and see what he says. And the interior actually is pretty decent. But yeah sight unseen I can't say for sure until I go see it in person.

I personally bought my SC300 92' for $1500 w/ 176,000 miles on it, and in GREAT condition. So i'd offer him no more than $1500 if not offer him less. SC's are SO beautiful but you can purchase one on ebay that is in WAY better condition for that price. Let me know what you end up doing, and GL.

yeah 2k seems high for it. i paid 3500 for my 93with 140k on the chassis and 59k on the 1jz that had been swapped into it. and it has a bunch of other stuff done to it. i would say 1300-1500 max for that one.

this car is not worth more than $600 with that kind of damage, will need to cut out quarter panel and weld new one + new door. unless you got a good friend at the bodyshop, labor and repairs can exceed $3000.
Cars with this kind of damage are salvage title usually.

I have a dent somewhat similar to that in more of the rear quarter panel, estimates for that were $1500 to repair, $2200 to replace the whole quarter panel. But you have door damage too which could be even more.

Thanks for all your help fellas. I ended up buying the car for $1800 (too much I know), but I just couldn't resist. It was like going to the shelter and seeing a beautiful purebred sitting in a cage, all beat up and sick aching for a new home. The car definitely is going to need a lot of TLC, but it will really give me a chance to learn this car inside and out so I don't mind. Right now she's sitting in the garage and I probably won't get a chance to do much to it until next week but it's cool; I am just so happy to be part of the SC family now.
Only thing is that I wish it was a manual trans like my 92 ES300, but that can all be changed later down the road depending how far I go with the car. First I just want it running right and driving right, then I will worry about the mods. For now I am glad to have a new project to work on! I'll try to take some good pics of it soon, she really looks great from every other angle aside from that damaged panel.
