Default crooked steering wheel

my steering wheel has been slightly off for as long as i have owned the car. when the wheels are straight the wheel face towards the right probably about less then 45 degrees. if i put the wheel straight it will drive the car to the left. i have had quite a few alignments in the past and it has helped it out a little. recently when i got my car back from being painted it seems to be a lot worse. i havent yet brough the car to be aligned again but what else can i look at that could possibly be making it off like that. i have lifetime alignments so its no thing to keep getting it done but ill be honest im getting a 4 wheel alignment everytime i go. now i know there is a difference between a front end alignment and a 4 wheel alignment but is a front end alignment always included in a 4 wheel? would a front end alignment possibly resolve this?

I think it is your steering rack bushings slowly failing/deteriorating.

Do a search w/ keywords "steering rack bushing" started by username "D1GP". There is a very useful thread w/ pics showing everything that is required to replace the bushings.

if the car drives straight, take the steering wheel off and center it.

hey, just wanted to drop an update off for anyone who participated in this thread. it was actually my alignment. one of the tires was at liken .25 degrees when it should have been at 1.0 or something. my suspension no longer makes any noise and my wheel is sitting pretty at 12 o clock.

That is exactly what your problem is. Im dealing with the same thing now. Im looking to see if there are any aftermarket bushings out there that would improve my handling. Get it done and let me know how it goes. Good luck.

dont ever take your steering wheel off and turn it. most of the newer cars have key ways so you cant even do that.. to me it sounded like you need somone who can align cars right
