I was recently at a Japanese cultural expo and they had an import section where I found some flyers about a company called Area 51 fabrications. They claim to be a new Lexus Performance Specialist shop. The flyer seems like they do alot of custom work and carry alot of products. I was wondering if anyone in southern california had heard of them or bought anything from them?

I have heard of Area 51, but I have never heard of them referred to as a Lexus shop...I know that Jeremy Lookofsky, owner and driver of the worlds fastest naturally aspirated Honda, works there. If they are a Lexus shop, do they have a website? I'd like to learn more, because I am a stones throw away from there...

Area 51's owners name is Dave I believe... he had an extremely fast RX-7, it was a custom 20b (3-rotor) setup...
you can talk to him on http://www.rx7forum.com
didn't know they were doing lexus stuff now, seems like a lot of RX-7 people want to do turbokits on SC300 and GS300s

Area 51 has a drag SC that runs like 9's in the quarter. There was an article about them and the SC in one of those import magazine a couple of months ago. It has bad a$$. I wish I could remember what magazine it was. They definitely know their $h!t if they can get an SC in the 9's. A website would help a lot though.

i also remember seeing an article in a mag about area 51 drag sc..however, it was a tube car with basically just a shell (fiberglass??) of an sc. i also think it said it used a supra engine (which is the same as the sc3 with a supercharger). at the time of the article, they were developing a supercharger for the is and is probably out. from the sounds of it, it seems like a custom fabrication shop. doesn't seem like they are selling any sc parts or kits (haven't seen them in any mags or internet). maybe custom jobs for some $$$$.
but seriously, 9s with a tube car??? shouldn't it go faster considering? toyomoto's sc3 did 10s with basically just adding a turbo to the car and drag tires (nos???) and full interior. put back on the regular tires and they can drive the car home unlike the area 51's drag sc which u gotta put back onto the trailer to take that home.
a tube car is for the track, r&d and basically being a billboard for sponsors.
but a car that can go on the track and then back onto the street to pick up all the hotties...now that's impressive!

found the article i rememebered about...
area 51 was featured in the may 2001 turbo magazine. according to the article, its facilities will offer "unprecedented customer service." also according to the article, it is a r&d place for its racing efforts and also has a customer installation center that is suppose to have a showroom and a lounge area where customers can watch their cars being worked on from above (also a coffee bar and internet stations). located at 51 auto center dr, unit a1, irvine ca (949)472-6320.
they also just opened up this year march/april of 2001. i guess they'll have to start to build a reputation with satisfied customers.
if your flyer is correct about them claiming to be a lexus specialist shop...then
1) why put a supra twin turbo 2jz-gte engine in a tube frame lexus sc car? why not put in a sc3 engine and turbo it or better yet, a sc4 1uz-fe engine? couldn't they get more r&d from dragging a lexus engine that came in a lexus than an engine that came in a toyota car?
2) where are their products advertised, what do they offer since the lexus sc performance market seems to be extremely small?
actually, i hope they do start to offer sc3 & sc4 products and not just every other place that offers products for the gs and is!

Also I thought Shawn Hiller was the driver of that CRX cuz shawn was able to pull off better times than Jeremy. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Hehe, hold on, I think I remember where I saw it...
:::goes & checks:::
Yeah, the Dec. 2001 issue of Super Street states in "The Players of 2001" section on page 172 that Jeremy is back in the drivers seat of L'Natural, and is working at Area 51.
