I have a 5spd. This is how I do it, ignition to ON, Neutral gear, Ebrake up (maybe clutch in). Move to desired position, hold set first, then 1 or 2. Release both after you hear confirmation Beep.
I am very sensitive to the position of my seat, sometimes the telescoping wheel will not fully move into place before i set off, it often gets stuck. To remedy this while driving, i pull the ebrake up ever so slightly and press my memory button. It automatically updates the memory settings and moves my wheel back into place!

Doesn't work for me since I have supra seats. Annoying at times, but well worth the trade-off.

i thought my memory didnt work, but it actually does!!!

IF YOU HAVE THE INFAMOUS TILT STEERING PROBLEM (up/down)
YOUR MEMORY SEAT FUNCTION WILL CUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY.

my tilt steering still doesnt work (too lazy to fix it) and i thought my memory function was dead too cause the buttons wouldnt do anything.
when i took my door apart i had to d/c and reconnect the memory seat control harness thing. and the next time i pressed it it worked!!

it moved my seat to the right position, tried to move the steering wheel, made the usual grinding sounds instead of going up/down and then cut off.
the bottons do not work until i reset again. so if your tilt is on the tilt and youre wondering why you dont have memory seats, wonder no more.
hope this helps someone. werd.

I thought mine was broken too. I had read the owners manual and thought I had followed instructions. Today, I tried again following the instructions on this thread and VOILA! It works fine again..
Thanks.
