Default price of Sc300 with 5 speed

Hey All, long time no post
I've been following the Supra mailing list and
prices of those MKIV's (93.5-98 supra)
And they sell for much much more than book value.
(book values in Edmunds, Kelly Blue, etc, aren't even close to the actual markat prices)

I wondering if you guys may have noticed the same for the SC300's with the 5speeds in your area
Just curious

Ken

hehe, its quite RARE to find a 5-speed SC300...

I think a little under 10% of all SC300s came with one...

I got my 95 for $13k, book is a lot higher...

I've seen them on autotrader as 92 going for $8k-$10k

Supras are over the book value because the buyers who want them don't pay book value for that kind of car anyway... Its like trying to find a good Ferrari for book value... it isn't gonna happen

I have been thinking and I think I might stick with AUTO. After all, AUTOs handle the big power better and they're generally faster.

huh? you mean the SC300 auto handles power better?

are you sure that statement is correct? i don't think the stock 4-speed auto can take 450-500ft-lbs of torque...

if it was built, it could handle more power...

but i also don't agree with the statement with autos being faster, IF you're referring to SC300s... Supras are a different animal

No, I know SC stock tranny isn't build for that power. I was talking in general, well build manual vs. automatic tranny. Let's take Supra tranny for example. Auto is faster in acceleration, lower top speed, shifts right before the redline all the time, boost off the line, easier to drive with 600 rwhp, no miss-shifting, more reliabile (clutch), etc etc. List goes on.

Oh I see what you're saying

Yeah definitely for high-powered drag cars you want the auto...

a BPU SupraTT with a 6-speed is mid 12s to low 12s...

a BPU SupraTT with an auto and stall converter is high 11s

IRS is a ***** to launch correctly... auto is also much easier to drive with THAT much power as DirectQL said

Wouldn't it be nice to race someone on the street while drinking a shake at the same time? Hahaha. This guy is struggling trying to shift right and you're enjoying your shake while beating his ***. Hehehe.

Actually, you don't need cup holders, I was talking about drinking a shake while holding it in a had and racing. You know, automatics, one hand is free. Hahaha.
