So I sold my SC400....
...or I thought I did.
This older couple came to look at my SC400 a few days back, and they were very interested in buying it. They seemed like very nice people, and they were extremely understanding and professional throughout most of the deal.
Anyways, they had come and driven the car a few times and were very interested. Today I was supposed to meet up with them and make the final transaction- i had the title overnighted to me (by my parents, as i live 4 hours away from home)...
So i get there, and the couple was there with a bearded gentleman that looked like Santa Claus...Not sure who he was, but they claimed that he was a mutual friend. Santa took one look at my car (which was all pretty and detailed for the sale) and said that it was impracticle, overpriced, and an overall rip off.
I was rather offended, considering that my asking price was fair (and flexible for that matter), sitting right at 6500$...kbb and nada say that the car is worth between 6800-7200 in good shape considering the mileage/options.
I rebuttled and said that the car was worth every penny...yet again he spouted off that i was trying to rip people off, and that my car wasn't worth but 3 grand. Considering that i'm the 2nd owner and that my car is in very good shape, i believe it's worth a bit more than 3 grand.
So the whole party storms off, and I'm left with nothing - lost about 250$ in gas/postage/detailing/tune up in the whole deal.
Sorry, just had to vent.

Don't sweat it...
It sounds like this couple consulted someone that they considered to be a "good haggler". Don't worry about it. And don't be surprised if they contact you again to purchase it for your asking price.

Hell if you was closer and it was end of the month I would buy it at your asking price. Don't worry about man, it was set up anyway they wanted to haggle. Besides feel good knowing they are going to purchase used grand am and think they really lucked out on a great deal on a pontiac.

Haha- thanks for the words of encouragement guys- you all are the best. I knew i could count on you to make me smile in a situation like this.
And yes, hopefully they'll go buy a crappy Pontiac and think they get a good deal- people fail to realize that an older Lexus in good shape holds its value.
The only reason i'm selling it is because a have the summer itch- i want a 5-speed... haha
And Nate579 - if you're interested, I'd drive the car up to Maryland for you if you pay for gas and my plane ticket back to TN
