Exclamation SC Stereo ? Upgrading and what kinda setup?

hey I know some of you have upgraded the stereo's in your cars
I wanted to know what kinda setups you have and what sizes of speakers you have in there.
it looks like the fronts are only 4" .. any kick panels for the SC cars ? so I could put in my 6.5 front speakers in? if you have pics that would be helpful.
thanks

I was thinking of upgrading my headunit to a double dim unit. I saw a Kenwood at the good guys. Only problem was that the face was not detachable. The sony awia was however face detachable.

The double dim plays cd's and tapes.

If anyone here has changed their orginal head units with a double dim please share your positive or negative comments.

thanks,
007

Hey sc300,
I just bought a Aiwa mp3, I took my car back to the mobile installation guys. The guy gave me a BIG story about how they would have to rewire everything once they replace my factory head unit. He kinda made me get concerned, dont want any one missing with my baby if they dont know what there doing.
If anyone here has upgraded their factory head unit please share what kind of wire harness used and from where did u get it from?
Also, how many amps does an sc400 have? The install guy said that it has 2( 1 for the subwoofer and another for the rear speakers).

I hoping that someone here can help me with this info or direct me link.

thanks,
007

Getting Boston ProSeries4.5 component speakers installed in the front---couldn't do it myself because the stock speakers have screw holes 1mm offset to the standard template. Also the tweeter has some weird mount that requires a screw go through it's voice coil. I have JL Audio 5x7 coaxial speakers for rears since Boston doesn't make a coaxial ProSeries---didn't bother figuring out the pushpins and lifting all the upholstery for that either. And I don't even want to bother splicing a new wiring harness and custom making a kit for the deck. I'm leaving it up to the Good Guys installers. I work at the Dublin Good Guys and we have these two guys that know their *****, after all they've been doing 3-d nav. systems and multizone dvd systems in Benzes and Beemers year round. I figure after installing my alarm, this should be cake with their online shop manuals and wiring diagrams. Also tranplanting my Kenwood Z828 receiver and JL 12-w3 Prowedge box over with JL 500/1, 300/4 amps, and two Monster 1fd caps. Should be bumpin' by the end of the week.

In my car the wire harrness for the aftermarket deck has to be custom because its stock amps, so it all has to be re-wired ..blah.. about 200-250$ labor I already have all the components so im set there and then I think im going to have them do a custom trunk too thats another 500-700$ might as well have them do the alarm while there at it ..
boston acoustics all around
(rc-620front, rm9'srear)
kenwood e717, ken 717-10diskchanger,
orion xtreme amps 500, 500.4
2 mtx 10" subs-

Speaking of Eibach springs, where's a cheap place in our area to get my car lowered and rebalanced/aligned? Did you have a good experience with Big-O? And where'd you pick up your Eibach kit? Local or net??

Default Big-o

I got the springs through big-o, they were $300 after tax.. The labor is almost $300 to do the work, so it's not cheap- but I trust Big-o, they've worked on alot of my friends cars and my old car also.. and my cousins used to work there so I get discounts once in a great while..

Default systems

okay...aout the front...
i have 5 1/4 in the front with the component system
and in the rear i was able to go with the 6 1/2
they are alpine all the way around
with uh...an extra set of tweeters in the back .. .just to **** off anyone who is being a little too loud and hyper in the back seat
but anyways.. i think they are fultron..and they are loud if they are amped.. with a 75x4 alpine amp
anyways... i have two memphis twelves in the trunk ...
uh dont know what the wattage is on those ... cause when i bought the car it came with 4 tens in the trunk.... along with the amp so im not sure about wattage on taht ...but the twelves are better and louder cause the box is a ported box...
i guarantee you a ported box is the way to go
sends chills up and down ur spine for little money
heheh

Default oh yea

oh yea...about the subwoofer and normal speaker...
if i traced the wires right
there is only one amp in the whole car
i think
i could be wrong
that was just when i was insatlling an amp in a friend of mines car
i had time to look around and i think there was only one
so i might be wrong
but im almost sure

later ian

Question to anyone with a boxed sub(s): Have any of you tried removing the Nak 10" and using the opening as a giant port for your box? Or using it in conjunction with a bandpass? I've seen it done, but never heard it. I'd imagine it pounds like no other and am considering it for the future. It looks like a LOT of work because of the constrained space between the rear dash and the gas tank.
