Default Hooked up my battery backwords.

Ok This is what happen, I had just got my car back from the shop for a new rack and pinion, and had about 30 minutes till I had to go to work so lately my car was just turning of and the mechanic told me my battery was very old and wasnt really holding a charge very well at all so a new one might fix that problem . So I took my battery out of my honda and hooked it up to my lexus but was in such a rush forgot to look at the terminals and just assumed they were the same.... Well they werent at all. And my car was pretty much dead nothing worked.. Well people told me I might of blown the computer but I started thinkin there had to of been some kind of safe guard from that... Well I started looking around at my fuses and my Alt and AM1 fuse were both blown. So I went down to lexus and bought them and they are suppost to get here tomorrow or tuesday.. But what is everyone thoughs on this has it happen to you before? Anyone with awsners plzz tell. I'm just hoping its the fuses that blew.

ouch, the fuse is a safety device, like an airbag is for your face, even with the safety device in place, nothing is guaranteed. but let's hope it saved your computer.

I had a new battery fitted by roadside assistance, and they installed the wrong one - ve to +ve and vise versa. The 'fusable link' blew, and once replaced all was fine. I count myself lucky though. If I recall correctly the fusable link was a really thick fuse, 30A if I recall.

Bringing this thread back up, but just wondering if Lexus sent you the right fuse. I needed to replace the blue 100a AM1 fuse and they gave me one that did not fit. They were convinced that it was the right one, but they were totally wrong. I still cannot find the correct 100a fuse that fits my 93 sc300.
