Alternator?

actually there was a thread about two weeks ago that went into the replacement in depth ...basically I replaced mine for about 250 bucks in Hawaii, you might be able to find a lower price for a rebuilt one over there but there was also another guy who took his to a automotive electric shop and had it rebuilt for half the price ...but it depends on your area ...but do a search in the sc forums for 'alternator' and you will find the thread ...but it is not a hard job to do yourself

I plan to do the work myself. Its doesn't look as hard as replacing the P/S pump. I have checked the price at NAPA, Autozone and carparts.com. Some of them have the rebuild at 100A and the other have 150A.
Sorry, recheck the print out and it 120A not 150A.

well I think the one for the SC400 should be the higher amperage it certainly can't hurt the one I used was the 150 amp alternator I remember them having the 100 amp in the computer and there was not a significant differance in the price

NAPA: 100A for $319 + $66 core, $189 + $98.76 core
120A for $274 + 83 core, $344 + 75 core, $305 + 65 core.
Carparts.com 120A, $344.90 and $434.70 no core
Autozone100A $240.99 + $85 core.
I think I'll get the NAPA $189 I think they're lifetime warranty
Did anyone else get better price?

yup I thought I had seen one on e-bay and it looks like the right one and at least it's on the east coast already so it should not be too hard for you to get it ...ask the seller the amp rating to be sure before you buy but it looks to be a good deal to me
