The many times I've driven them, they are just uneventful - fun to drive, ok sure, maybe on a twisty road, but around town, they just aren't all that...

to me, the power curve was worse than a big turbo was on my Talon... floor it from a 5 mph roll and it accelerates, then around 7000, it gets moving (as much moving as 240 hp will move you)... To drive this and have fun, you really have to beat the **** out of it - 9000 rpm shifts every time and more...
It appears to me that you haven't had much seat time in the S2000, VTEC kicks in at 6,000rpm, not 7k on both the ap1 and ap2 versions. Below VTEC, it is like any other NA 4banger but it still has a decent amount of torque being that the car is so light. I've also driven other 4 bangers both NA and boosted like the Evo and they all suffer the same lack of grunt down low so it's not a big deal to me, just a characteristic of a 4cylinder motor. I will concede that if you are used to tq right off the line like on most 6 and 8 cylinder motors, then it might not be for you. But for many happy S2000 owners, we love to rev the motors up all day because they can take it and still return 22-24mpg, something that cannot be said of any SC that is driven even conservatively. I drove my previous S2000 to 85,000 miles as my only car with only the standard maintenance needed. This includes several laps at Laguna Seca and at the Streets of Willow along with a few autoX's thrown in there.
To each his own, I say test drive it and see if it's something you can live with.

weak motor... I;ve known three people to blow up theirs with forced induction...

one was with a almost perfect tune, and 400 whp... no knock, 11.5:1 a/f, it died three weeks after install...built the motor, turned up the boost, made 500 hp, lasted two nights at the track... not saying there aren't 350's out there running well on boost, but they definitely aren't known for their strength...

Your SC is really nice. I would never sell or trade in a silver 97 with black interior and a 5spd transmission for an S2000. Ive driven those a couple times at my work before. They look nice but I think I would feel much more confortable in a bigger car like an SC. Youve got a great platform (if you are into modding).

If you are really into a honda sports car and want to get rid of the SC then I would suggest the Acura NSX. Im a huge honda hater but the NSX is one car I would definetly add to a collection of cars. It is sleek, classy, and unique. And plus you can pick one up for about the same price of an S2000.

SC's are status cars. Not really drivers cars. If you're looking for something to have a good time in, I would take the s2k in a heartbeat. Even in stock form they are far more fun to drive than my soarer. The s2k is a complete drivers package. The SC is just a trophy...
