I was looking at that earlier, its almost exactly what I want. Thats one of the reasons I have been looking at the 400's, I know its a V8 and all, but its different from many others, I know its incredibly easy to make power w/ the 1JZ, or even swap to a 2JZ, but its different. If the SC3 route is easier/more fuel efficient (why am i taking that into consideration) I might go that way.

you really don't need to swap anything. the sc3 already comes with a 2jz, you can work with the GE engine just fine.

sc300 stock = 3.0 L 2JZ-GE I6
sc400 stock = 4.0 L 1UZ-FE V8 (same engine as the LS400 if you ever need to replace stock, but why would anyone do that?)
The twin turbo is probably what you're referring to, which is either a j1z-gte or a 2jz-gte, although there are others out there that are compatible.

If you start out with an SC400, you have good H.P. to start with. Then you can build from there. Their are a lot of good used SCs on C.L., look for the classified forum and Lexus vehicles subforum.

If you have any plan of modifying for power, the SC300 is a very easy, user-friendly platform($). The SC400 is a better high mileage engine. Even with a mean exhaust, it is more of a commuter vehicle until you decide to supercharge($$$) or turbocharge($$$$) it.
