Will be rolling the fenders. I'll update with installed pics when I do get them installed, it will be a while tho.
Wow! Those look good. I can’t wait to see them on the car.

Got a new (to me) 1997 JZZ30 Soarer (1JZ, OEM manual!) and looking at new wheels / suspension to replace what it showed up with (bit too lowered for my taste). Thinking Tein Flex Z coilovers for starters.

I need to get under / into the car to see what it's going on, but looks like 18" rims right now. Looking to go down to 17" Kansei KNP or Enkei PF05 -- I'm not a big rims guy. Looking to get mostly flush (slightly sunken is fine) and I may do some mild tuning on the engine, but not turning this into a track beast. Front already looks weird / I think there is some rubbing going on, it is quite low.

Reading through this thread, and the very helpful OP, just have a few questions:

1. Kansei KNP comes in 17x9, +22 or +35. OP suggests these might be OK, and this is 1" narrower than the 10" example given in the OP. Enkei, I get +20 or +40. Is this a reasonable choice for me if I want to avoid any fender rolling, or suspension mods / crazy camber modifications? Enkei has versions that go down to 8" wheel width.
2. In terms of tires, looking at a chart online, seems like 9" wide wheels are a sweet spot for 245.. 255mm width wheels, right?
3. Since we're RWD (I've only owned AWD cars), feels like a staggered setup might make more sense here. What's the maximum difference I should keep between the rear/front widths, or keep the same to be able to rotate freely?
4. Am I correct in understanding that spacers are the only other variable I have to play with in moving around wheel position?
5. Is the "official" OEM spec 16x7, w/ 225 tires?

Guys, im in a mild predicament right now. My initial plan was to have a wheel gap of about 1-1.5inches all around and run something like an 18x8.5 et40 so i wouldn't have to roll my fenders. However, after installing my fortune auto coilovers, the fender is flush with the top of the tire even though the coilovers are maxed out. Now while it does look pretty good height/gap wise, this does throw a wrench at my plans since im sure that the only reason why it's not rubbing right now is because of the clearance provided by the stock offset.
Keep in mind this is more in regards to the front wheels, but Im pretty much just wondering if im screwed im terms of wanting a slightly wider wheel set up (8-8.5in at less than or equal to stock offset) without modding the fenders.

It would really depend on the tire size of the wheels and how much wider you wanted to go. Years ago I had an 18 inch set of Lexus IS350 wheels on my SC with the same specs as your wheels and experienced no issues with rubbing. I did end up shaving/rolling my fenders a few month later to accommodate wider 18’s with wider tires.

How much wider of a wheel were you considering? You could keep similar widths with lower offsets or go wider with the same offsets depending on tire sizes.

Well for the initial set up i was thinking of going with 18x8.5 with a 235/40 at either 35 or 45 offset for the front. Was also considering 245/40 if it made more sense.

Assuming neither of those work i was also looking at maybe going 18x8 et40 with 225/45.

If i remember correctly i want to say i have about 10-15mm from tire sidewall to the inner fender, which is why i was worried that these set ups might come too close to the fender. This is on the stock wheel set up

Default No Rubbing or rolling fenders? Wheel size

There is so much info. I think I am more confessed on what size wheels to buy. I am having my 2jz rebuilt and a turbo put on. I am also buying performance suspension parts and coil overs. I am going to buy new wheels and tires but I don't want to roll the fenders or have any rubbing issues. From my research I was leaning toward 17x8+35 I the front and 17x9+35 in the rear. Would this size be a good fit without rubbing or rolling? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Question Specific question re: IS300 17" x 7" 5 spoke wheels

I have a rather specific question re: IS300 17" x 7" 5 spoke wheels (I read a lot of posts and stickies but didn't find the specific "issue" addressed)

ever since I got my SC400 with the stock chrome multi spoke wheels, I've been wanting to change them to something a bit more modern looking and simple as I am not a fan of chrome wheels. I also like the idea of having a 2nd set of cheaper "beater"/DD wheels on the car and keeping the rather delicate factory wheels in storage and install them if I need it. I decided on 17" size as I concluded that this size will give me the best middle-ground between looks and factory ride quality.

This is the specific wheel I have in mind: (factory IS300 17"x7")

I had my mind set on the 17" IS300 5-spoke wheels, but a comment on a SC group on Facebook is making me think twice..
Someone said that these wheels (I think 7" wide with +50 offset, same as SC offset but 6.5" wide?) would look "sunken in" on the SC.
Those who have these wheels or similar dimensioned wheels: Can it look WORSE than the stock 16" x 6.5" wheels ? That's where I am not sure. Aren't the 16" wheels the same offset, if not even more sunken in with their 6" or 6.5" width?
Some feedback and/pr pics will be much appreciated.
As long as these IS300 17" wheels don't look MORE sunken in than stock wheels, I am OK with that.

IF these ARE supposed to/going to look worse/sunken in than my current 16" wheels what are my other choices as far as OEM Lexus/Toyota wheels? (MK4 Supra TT will be great but clearly out of my budget range)
My needs are: Needs to look pretty much like those above (5 spoke star style with the spokes narrower towards the OUTside. (Cannot deal with opposite, where spokes get narrower towards the hub/center)
17" diameter.
Able to at least handle 225 size tire but hopefully 235 (I THINK the IS300 17" wheels can handle a 235 while keeping 55 profile with no rubbing?)

Thanks much I/A

I had those wheels on my 2000 SC300. I thought they looked outstanding. No sunken look to me.

Long story short, I had to replace front wheel bearings and I bought new hubs as well. Since they are already out and I bought aftermarket wheels, will I need longer studs? I know they worked on the OEM wheels, but they do seem short. What have been your experiences on aftermarket wheels with stock studs?
