'99 LED 3rd brake light is HALF out.
Very odd problem I'm having with the new SC300. It has the '99 type spoiler with the LED 3rd brake light, half (driver side) doesn't light up. Exactly half doesn't light up. Has anyone encountered such an odd issue? There must be power getting to at least one side, maybe I'm missing a ground? Something wrong on the LED board itself? I highly doubt that exactly half the LED bulbs would go out at the same time leaving the other side perfectly lit.
Any ideas? I've been reading through threads kind of like this but have yet to figure it out, haven't seen anyone post about half the light being out.
The joys of a new car!
Thanks in advance,
Steve

I had the same issue just after buying my 98 SC40.
Basically you need to just buy a new light. I ordered mine for about $280 plus shipping.
To replace it semi easy.
There are 2 large phillips screws holding it in, take those out and the light drops out,
You need to pop the inner trunk lining to unplug the cord leading into the break light, but DON'T pull the cord all the way out. This just buys you the 3 extra inches needed to pull the wire and unplug the light.
Unplug, put in the new light, pull the slack on the other end, plug that back in and you are good to go.
If you accidently pull the cord out, you'll need to take off the entire wing, so be careful to only give as much slack as needed.
about 20-30 minutes to replace tops.

Haha, yea I'd rather not buy a new light, before I do that I'll be taking the current one apart and seeing if theres something wrong with the circuit board, because that is what I think it is and someone well versed in electronics should be able to see whats up fairly easily.

I had to buy the new light. I had just bought the car out of state and needed an MA state inspection sticker. MA Law mandates ALL lights are 100%.
I kept the half working light though. I may take a peek someday. It was cool, the left lights didnt work, and the center ones would flicker like crazy.

i had random lights out and i ended up just unplugging it till i get a new one....
its cheaper to buy a full spoiler from aliga/R&J with an LED than to buy just the LED from LEXUS
