it's a day to strip a car, two days to do the body work, three if its really ****ty

then a day to paint the car

then a day to put the car back together...

thats if you have one person to dedicate to it... problem is, body shops don't - they work on multiple things at one time...

You are going to change the wheels too? Not that those are horrible, they just don't seem to fit with everything you're doing. Sounds like you're creating a show car level ride. That type of car deserves show car level wheels.
Good luck with the build up and can't wait to see it.

Right and wrong, the guy doing most of the work is the owner and a friend, so I am getting mates rates and letting things happen at a steady pace. This is also not a specialist shop that deals just in resprays or resto type work.

If we had just rubbed back and painted over the existing paint,of which there was to much, end result would still nearly be the same. Problem would of been six to twelve months time the paint job would of looked crap, mine just to much paint on it. It was explained to me in detail but the short version is with todays paints and the use of accelerants to dry the paint, the outside dries and goes hard very quickly and the reducer gets trapped and what you end up with is a paint job that has a wavy finish to it.

So every step is being allowed to dry completely and harden right through before we do the next step of the process. This also allows him to do his bread and butter work, insurance jobs, in and out real quick, to suit todays society.

ah, makes a lot of sense... however, it's not as bad as they say about the drying and such.... the only time that makes any difference really is in the final coats - sealer, base coat, clear coat... everything before that needs very little time to set, specifically if using good quality fillers and primers...

The wheels are 9 by 17 with high disc clearance for the 4 pots and 10 by 17 low disc, they are also a light weight forged alluminium rim, they will get a little bit of a refurbishment to clean them up and will do for the time being. A mate of mine has an import shop and we have been looking for some decent wheels out of Japan but havent found anything I really like yet that will fit properly, besides I like these wheels.

"Mates rates at a steady pace" That is pretty much my same philosophy.

I don't mind a wait, as long as it looks great, and it comes at a low rate.

Believe it or not, but this will be a daily driver, When I looked at buying a new car and spending about $25,000 on one, I decided to put the cash into this instead.because I like the car so much. With the trans and the exhaust and the supercharger, along with the paint job and other regular maintenance work, I will have what is near enough to the new car I was going to buy.

I would still have drive something, one way or another, so why not a supercharged Soarer.

With the flash, gives you a better idea of the true colour.
