A Soarer is just the non-USDM name for an SC300/400. I believe LEXUS stands for "Luxury EXport to the US". Thus, cars not intended for North America get badged Toyota, and those that get badges Toyota are called Soarers.
The V8's are largely identical between the SC400 and the Soarer. But, the six cylinders are quite different. The Soarer had a 2.5L TT and the SC300 got a 3L with no turbos. Both of these engines can be easily modified for big horsepower numbers.
The V8 is tough to make into a performance monster (especially when a self-proclaimed idiot at cars). The V8 is more for the smooth luxury than anything.

Read first, then ask questions as to what you do not understand.

"The Lexus brand
In 1986, Toyota’s longtime advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi formed a specialized unit, Team One, to handle marketing for the new luxury brand. Image consulting firm Lippincott & Margulies was hired to develop a list of 219 prospective names; Vectre, Verone, Chaparel, Calibre and Alexis were chosen as top candidates. While Alexis quickly became the front runner (possibly due to the association with the Alexis Carrington character on the popular 1980s primetime drama Dynasty) and later morphed to Lexus, the name has been attributed to the combination of the words "luxury" and "elegance." According to Toyota, the name has no specific meaning and is just meant to be pleasing and easy to remember....."
So this says it is from "Luxury" and "elegance"
I think the "Luxury" "Export" to the "US" theory makes a lot more practical sense, since that is really exactly what it was.

Now what were you planning on doing with that info since youre and idiot when it comes to cars.
Youre asking questions that even if we all answered as completely as we know how with the exact correct answers, you still wouldnt be able to put to use because you admittedly are "an idiot when it comes to cars".
