Ok, I just realized that the piece that blew off my car is just a screw on body piece.

Does anyone where I could get one of these ... preferably used and painted the correct color?

*I appoligize for the messed up images. From my cell phone, to an image host I have never used before. They look terrible...my bad

not necessarily...

underinflation, damage, age, and more can all cause that...

I'd also say 95% of failures like that that are truly defect are prefaced by wobbling, shaking, vibrations just prior to the tire coming apart...

Doesn't matter, it has less than 30% chance of matching anyway. All white changes over every year in different ways from the elements.

Should I dare quote Mario Andrette here "Always check your tires". Haha
Your lucky you had a low profile tire man, a SUV here in vegas like a week ago had a blowout and two people died and the other two injured. Did you here about that Mitsuguy? Happy your alive man!

ouch, I didn't, actually... might look into it though...

I realize not every situation is avoidable, but I think people in general, could be better trained to deal with a tire failure... typical reaction is slam on the brakes which causes uncontrollable swerving, and, in a top heavy, loaded down, SUV, a roll over...

Yikes. This reminds me of the time the same thing happened to me. I was in my '87 Celica driving 80 in the left lane. I started hearing a twomping sound, and had no idea what it was all about. So I did what any sensible person would do and sped up.

Well, the Front Driver side tire shredded itself pretty good. It ripped out all the inside of the wheel well. The good thing was that there wasn't any body damage outside the well. Thankfully the 87's had a full sized spare and I was able to get myself home.

This one was the result of running my tires beyond bald. What little tread was left, disintegrated off the tire.

I pray this does not happen to my SC.

i've tried multiple different models of their tire. i'm tire ****, i switch to summer tires in the spring, and all-seasons in the winter, so my tires are almost always new. alignments are always perfect, tire wear is always perfect. i check my air regularly, at least once a week. and this has been on multiple different size rims as well on different cars. it's weird, yokos just never did well. i switched over to kumhos and haven't had a single issue... watch i get 2 flats tonight.
