I passed on a 98 Soarer TT yesterday, opinions?
I live in Barbados, so our cars are all JDM. Got a call from one of my "car guy" friends, and went to see for myself what he was talking about. A pearl white 98 VVTI ijz-gte 5speed. Bone stock cept for the blitz bov and blitz nur single exhaust.
It was really clean inside, no wood grain anywhere. Really well kept. Dood is asking $20K USD for it. I considered it for a minute, but seeing as its so hard to get goodies for the non-vvti 1jz (especially single turbo manifolds-NOT ebay)...I decided to pass since this motor is even rarer.
Before you guys post up that this post is useless without pics, i had the chitty cell phone on me so didn't snap off any. Wish i had the "good phone" it was nice. But IMHO too rare to get any good set of after market goodies for it. And the knowledge pool for this engine is pretty shallow.
*EDIT* I know the title says Soarer TT, but its actually a Soarer T.

You shoulda snatched that thing up. From what I here manual trans Soarers are quite hard to find, maybe even harder than manual trans SC's. Also, regarding aftermarket support, or lack of it, for the VVTi 1jz I'm pretty sure all the big companies in Japan make stuff for it. This engine was also in Chasers, Verosas, etc. And who needs a new manifold. If I had that car I'd just use the factory one and bolt up a slightly upgraded turbo to that. It would probably be a real nice street car. Please get some pics and post em up if you can.
