actually.... with some some vertex/origin fenders(with the vent opened to make it functional - has anyone actually done this?) and a subtle flare in the rear, the application of those vents - if sized, placed and moulded-in correctly wouldn't look half bad.

Double ditto

If the vent is contoured to match the wheel arc the car will look smokingggggg

Dose'nt look bad but the fact that the vents do nothing kills me.

I knew a fellow with a MY 00ish civic and NSX side intakes. The intakes were actually functional as they led air/debris/water into the backseat only protected by mesh. I'm not going to even voice my opinion on how it would look, rather ask everyone who believes this is a good idea to think of how they'd explain the existence of moss on the rear seats due to the mixture of air/water/organic material slewed onto the back seat due to their "Cool Looking Vent".
