What exactly is so hot about having a rear wiper anways? I mean, Is there a good reason why Toyota did not include them on the USDM models in the first place?

the reason is because it rains all the time in Japan and is quite heavy when it does.

Im sure you could wire it up to your front ones, but would you really want to. most cars like the 4runner and such have a rear wiper on a seperate control. I think ive used it once for show on the 4 runner.

I dont know about you.. but All my supras had one, and i HATE driving cars that do not have it. In WA it rains a lot and its nice to be able to get a clear view out your back window.

I did this in 04, I was the first to request this from Jhot. The area for the wiper motor is stamped in the US spec cars all you have to do is cut out the space with a grinder. The wiring is pretty simple as well.
As for the wiper upgrade I would walk around a junk yard and look at SUV rears.

Any status updates on this? I'm finding myself more and more intrigued by this. I may now want a rear wiper as well.

i hope someone responds. I need one of these..in the morning my windows are always foggy as hell and waiting for the defrost to do anything is pointless. and when it rains its a bit-ch to look back through the rearview.

I've tried searching for this all over the net and it just keeps refering me back to this thread...This is pretty frustrating...***** that stupid looking rear wiper! no wonder it was an optional part on Japanese Soarers.

It's very difficult to source the window and rear wiper nowadays. I'm now highly considering sourcing the wiper motor and washer nozzle off of another vehicle and using a glass cutter to make a small hole in the rear wiper. Anyone else ever try this? Wish me luck on this guys! I'll post results and pics in the future.

This probably sounds stupid, but I might just mount a windshield wiper on the rear window if I can't get ahold of the entire setup. As long as it looks good, it doesn't really matter if it's functional...
