Yeah I just saw that post. I really only need the panel for the sunroof, as im sure the intire roof would be a lot of work and expense. Wonder what the % of hardtop cars was?

They are very rare, I brought up the fact i wish my car was a hardtop last year and one of the guys on C.L. posted a pic. of his hardtop. If I still have my SC next year I will pull out the sunroof, and we'll know the weight.

I LOVE my sunroof. Rain or shine that joker is open. Having a targa version would have been outstanding, but wouldn't have flowed well with the car. I'm in love with the convertible conversions out there and would seriously consider just making mine into a speedster(why have a top assembly if it's never going to be up) if my car wasn't a DD. Barring a CF replacement, why not just have a sheet of metal welded on, then smooth it out & repaint the roof?

I have replaced one a while back. They weigh like 75-85 lbs. or so. can't remember exactly. They are a total bi+ch to mess with. It would be really easy to fab out a delete panel from CF... but I love my sunroof.

I would have to bet that CF for that panel would weigh 15-20lb tops. That would be a significant weight and -more importantly - center of gravity savings. Talk about minimizing body roll...
That being said, I use my sunroof extremely often. I felt claustrophobic in my rental car after three days of my SC being in the shop for body work after hitting Bambi in February.
If I was willing to get rid of the sunroof, I would definitely consider this first over a CF hood and trunk.

its so weird that this thread was created because on the exact day it was created, me and a friend were discussing the benefits of a CF sunroof delete. i was going to come home and make a thread about it but i was beaten to it. i love the idea and would purchase it immediately.

If the stock sunroof indeed weighs 75lbs, holy ****...that is so much more significant than a CF hood or trunk...not only because of the larger weight differential but also because of the moment arm from the center of gravity.

My old SC had a moonroof...Even here in So Cal, it's only been opened a handfull of times. I've never been a fan of moonroofs...
So I got another SC without one, a rare hardtop....
