I know this idea is kind of out there. I was helping my son take the headliner out of his 96 850 volvo turbo, when I noticed that on his car, the sunroof assembly was simply bolted on to brackets of the inside of the roof. It apears to me that with the headliner removed you could simply unbolt the whole assembly and put some sort of C.Fiber panel in the hole. I wondered if anyone has done this and weighted the assembly. Another thing is you would gain almost 2'' in headroom.
If your going to have a lightweight high horse sportscar then it sounds like a good idea to me, besides I never use mine. Wish someone made a C.F. eliminator kit.
Since I dont care for or use the power roof, I would like to loose the weight, which I am thinking would be considerable. Lighter weight = quicker 0-60.
Mine just makes noise and is annoying....I've tried those stupid rubber treatments with no results....It's retarded that we can't just buy a new seal for it too....
My new car has NO sunroof as they ALL inevitably have issues with age.
Big hunk of glass and some steel. Thats why I was hoping someone had one out and could tell me the numbers.
considering the moment arm from the car's center of gravity to the roof, any weight savings via a CF panel would be significant for handling...moreso significant than dropping weight by way of a CF hood or trunk.
