Default Headlamp cleaning?

Hi, How does one come to clean their headlights if it has been faded? I know you have to use a (i think a 2000 grit) sand paper...but my question is, is that is it positive that I will not scratch and leave a permanent mark on the headlight? I dont want to take the risk unless it is for certain that it will come out crystal clear. Thanks!

2000 wet/dry grit will not leave a permanent mark on your headlamp as long as you use rubbing cmpd after. it will be hazy while wet/dry sanding but after you rub it with rc it will look almost brand new if you also took care of the inside. Use the search, OLT has done a great DIY on this, just follow step by step, it's pretty easy, only time consuming.
