i did my 5spd swap about a year ago, and since then, the seat memory doesnt work. obviously it's because they look for the car to be in park before they adjust, and something (neutral safety switch) in the wiring is keeping that from happening. anyone know what to do?
The memory seats are on the same fuse as the tilt, the brakes lights and about 10 other things. I bought a new ECU (under driver's seat because I thought that might be the problem, but it wasn't). If everything else is working it may either be your memory seat switch or just make sure the switch is plugged in. DUH!! I went for months with it like that until I pulled the door panel off and sure enough, that was it. I've also heard that the wire can short out somewhere between the swicth and the ECU. Good luck.
ground out the gray wire on the A harness (smaller one) on the tilt steering wheel ECU. It should be A7.
has this been confirmed? The OP never said if that fixed it. I had given up on my seats, but this sounds like a simple fix.
Edit: Ok, tavarish take a look at this diagram. First of all, don't take this as criticism, in fact until I read your post I didn't know where to begin, and now I'm excited to have some direction for troubleshooting. Could you have meant B6 instead of A7? Notice the smaller plug is actually B and it looks like pin 6 might be what you were referring to, since that's a gray wire and has two different connections depending on the transmission.
I'd like to confirm that grounding B6 does not resolve the issue. However, cutting the gray B6 wire and supplying 12v to the Tilt/Telescopic ECU DOES make the memory function work. Now if I could just get my cruise control working...

Good info ! I've given up on this since I cannot find my Tilt ECU ! I posted a while back and just never got any definitive answers. I was thinking the ECU on a factory 5 speed car was in a different postion, yet I never did get anyone to confirm this.

Oh man, you ROCK ! I'm headed out to the garage. BTW, did you have a similar problem? in that you lost your seat memory after a swap?
Yeah, everybody does. The car "thinks" its not in park and won't let you set the position. By giving that gray wire 12v, you trick the tilt/telescopic ECU into thinking the transmission is in park. A nice bonus is that you can now set the position while driving!

Yeah, I get that for the automatics, except mine was a factory 5spd, and is now a 6spd. I'm digging under the passenger side now, I guess it's behind the glove box?
