Default How to tell: Factory 5 speed sc300

Well this guy wants to trade me a sc300 (that I have been wanting for the longest time) for my jdm ae86.

He told me is manual but I want to know a way to tell if it came factory 5 speed. Is there any way to tell by chassis code or something? For my corolla, the chassis code on the firewall tells you if is a original gts or sr5 (people put 4age on sr5 and claim to be real corollas gts. there are other ovious ways to tell like rear disc brakes on the diff and other stuff.) well i was wondering if the corolla thing also applies to the sc300.

I would not like to trade my car for a converted sc300. I rather have a original 5 speed. I know is the same but for some is not.

if the guy didnt change the gauge cluster that should be able to tell you. If u see the
P
R
N
D

or however it is, then that is not a 5spd gauge cluster which is a good indication it's not a factory 5speed. But this guy mighta changed out the gauge cluster too, which i doubt.

hopefully has a decent interior and stuff. Am willing to let my corolla go. I know is going to be a emotional disaster but is time to move on. Need something stronger. A 2jge if you upgrade the intake and exaust (and possibly delete the cats) you might get close to 20 hp or even more depending on engine health while a 4age you need to port head get higher lift/duration cams, cam gears, valve springs.... list goes on. Is time to move on really. My gf sc300 is so quick compared to my 4age. Anyways, where in the VIN can i tell is a factory manual?

Just run a carfax to see if it has a conversion.

However, it shouldn't matter if it's done right. 5 speed conversions are just as good as factory. I know, I have one:-)

Also, if you notice the "biohazard, blood!" on the car next to it, you might wanna use a blacklight on the interior of that car before you buy it.
