Interior Dye
I don't want to do the gated shifter swap yet, but I do want a black shift **** in my SC. Would the DupliColor black paint hold up on my tan shift **** with proper prepping?
I redid my armrest on one of my SC's yesterday, and although it isn't the same shade of tan, turned out quite nicely and hasn't chipped yet. I think the secret is to use a small heat gun while spraying the paint down on the material.

The gated shifter isn't important to me. The tall shifter is ugly, but I don't feel like spending much more than a few bucks to dye the existing parts, or change the shift **** entirely.

I don't want a black interior...I love tan. I just wanted the shifter to be black. I did it last night and it turned out quite nice, but I'm not sure I like it with the hand brake being tan.
Hmm...I don't know. Looks like I'll be saving for a gated shifter.

Just make sure you prep surfaces with alcohol and keep them VERY CLEAN before painting. Paint lots of THIN coats so the dye adheres to the surface. Immediately after the coats, use a heat gun about 6-12 inches from the freshly dyed surface so the dye sets faster and will be dry faster.
