Take a look at the major items of the car...
97+ kit: ~$1500 on the open market
Wheels: ~$800 on the open market
Lights: ~$700 on the open market
let's go by your math...

1500
+800
+700
_____
$3,000
+
$3,000 for a stock sc4 with 97 wheels (still in garage)
_____________
$6,000

.........just sayin'....... going by your count.

If those numbers are accurate looks like it will be worth it to part out. Obviously the 97 kit is worth more to someone with a black sc. On the other hand, you can get everything new for around $1500 unpainted. Also, you would have to package those big items unless you find someone to sell it to "On top of old smoky".

I think I misunderstood your post OLT. Did you mean take off the '97 conversion, wheels, and lights, and then sell your car whole after putting relevant stock part back on?

If that's the case, then that would be much more whorthwhile. I thought you meant literally take the whole car apart and sell it!

I agree with you man. I don't think those numbers are that realistic. 1500 for a used kit will be pretty hard to sell plus he has a custom black paint on his sc so the buyer will have to repaint it anyways or it will look a little goofy. The other thing is 700 bucks for headlights . Thats a little pricey, I think you can get a set of brand new 2000 SC lights for 500 bucks from the dealer.

So I still stick with selling the car outright.

you might be able to get $5,000 for the color changing needles alone lol. If you are looking to make $5,000 from the sale of your car I think you can do that with little trouble. that's your best bet

Where are you going to find a stock body kit in custom triple black to put back on after you take the 97+ kit off? Where are you going to get headlights, foglights, high beams, and tail lights after you sell off the lights on the car?

I am pretty sure this is still pointing toward selling outright.

I have all my stock parts and the stock nose and bumper was sprayed on the side with the rest of the car (foresight!)

I definitely would not have been that clever

Even if you sell the wheels and body kit, you still would be cutting it close to your bottom line for selling it outright. And, now, having sent the car into muck of well-taken-care-of SC400s with 200k+ miles, it is going to be more difficult to sell the car.

Well i've gotten a few here's and there's so come summer I can mow it over again if it's time to kill a 6 yr project. I've had this thing so long I should have it framed and hang it on the garage wall.

Would selling your black SC be the end of you and SC400's?

I can't keep track of your cars any more: Benz, Jag, SC here, SC there, etc.

It would be a damn shame to part out such a beautiful car. It looks new!
And it is low mileage - only 200K. It's barely broken in yet.

PLEASE keep it together.
