Hello Everyone.

I have my car at the body shop from a front end accident, they are telling me the bumper does not fit onto the car? The car is a 92 sc300, i picked up a 97 sc300 bumper. They are telling me the crash beam will not fit? Is this correct?

Probably the impact foam needs to be trimmed since it's pre-97.

 

it will work, might have to trim up the foam but it isnt a big deal

 

Or else just lose the foam JK - probably best to just trim it!

If they are telling you its not fitting they I suggest you try a better bodyshop. I installed a 97 front on my little brother's 92 SC300 with no modifications what so ever. It should fit like a glove if they know what they are doing.

 

yup, ill agree. i just put on my 97 front, just had to trim the impact foam... that is prolly whut they mean

 

You can also order the updated 97 foam absorber from the dealer. Last time I checked it wasn't that pricey at all.

 

yup get a new bodyshop... i installed mine with no problem. i think i didnt use the foam though

 

the foam impact absorber is 50 bucks from lexus. you can get them way cheaper online.

 

I'm going to have them leave the foam bumper support off, they are also telling me the top bolt holes don't line up with the bumper support, so i'm going to have to drill the holes my self.

Does this sound right?

My experience with this body shop has been very bad so far.

 

I would recommend you modify the existing foam or get the updated one. If the front ever has a low impace collision, theres a chance it will sustain pretty good damage even it is urethane.
Not sure about the top bolt holes lining up.

 

top holes should line up perfectly. your body shop is a bunch of idiots, get a new one

 

have you done the conversion? I read some where else that you need a new bumper beam or modify the one i have. That' why i'm asking.

 

just order a new one. why modify your old one. Bumper foam is what, $40?

 

i say take it out of that body shop, they sound like idiots, or they didnt fix anything... do you have any damage to the bumper support? have them fix the damage and put the bumper on urself, its soo easy. trim if u dont have any waiting time and then slap on the bumper, put all the screws on top, and on the inside of the fender, and done!
