good deal?
okay, i saw this on autotrader. went to see it yesterday, and am going to drive it tomorrow.
its a 92 SC300. has 190k, and every option available. the asking price is $4650, which seems high. what do you think? the paint is BEAUTIFUL. however, i think it's going to need tires and maybe brakes soon. i dont know about maint. records yet, as i wasnt able to get into the car, but everything looks amazing. it even has 16'' 1998 GS300 wheels on it.
heres a link: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=11
thoughts? i REALLY want this one, if it drives anywhere near as good as it looks. my only concern is GAS MILAGE...as edmunds.com says the sc300 only gets 18mpg city! that seems low to me...
anyways, im new here, and i hope this is posted in the right spot. =))

Looks good to me you might get them to knock off $500. Do a carfax, With paint like that it might have been garaged. Check service records to at a local Lexus dealership. Then again with 190k I would bargain it down. Check Edmunds and KBB.

ya, thats what i thought. was thinkin of offering $3900 and seein wat they say. the pictures dont do it justice though...it looks much better in person. the only other thing is the mileage...190k kinda scares me. =/

Mine has 134k now (not 190k but getting there) and it runs so well and I haven't had any problems so far other than normal stuff (dead battery, etc.). You could always upgrade engines, though, if it ever needs one, like the popular turbo 1JZ/2JZ/etc. or a 97/98+ V8.

If you want to shoot me the vin I can pull the carfax for ya. I think my subscription is stil valid. In the meantime I would scour the forum here for things to look for in the car BEFORE you buy it. Someone put together a fairly comprehensive list of the expected issues with the sc's. Might be good to be armed with that when u negotiate the price.
I am gettin in the 20's with my SC400 but thats highway and not a daily driver.
Good luck!

as to the mileage, thats with the V8! most of what i drive is highway between school and work. which is why i think the i6 should get (maybe?) 22+...
i do like the thought of a 92 with a VVTi engine thou. always a possibility, seeing how well the body has held up. gotta love southern cars/weather!
i will now go "scour". haha. thanks!

okay..so my mom decided to go ahead and buy it. it needs some cosmetic stuffs, and i doesnt have the htd seats or traction control, but it has everything else. it also needs a remote key, as it only has the nonremote master...kinda annoyed me, but hey, its been maintained perfectly, and actually has 183k not 190k, which makes me a little happier.
ALSO, the gauges are dim, so i gotta look into gettin those fixed. but, for $4150, i think its worth it! =)))
