If it aint broke , dont fix it!
IMHO, the price differential of a toyota filter and the non-stock filters is negligible. Toyota has an excellent reputation for longevity in their engines.
If Toyota says its ok, its good enough for me.
The filter info was interesting reading though.

Response to oil question viscosity selection
Greetings,
If you go back to the manual, it calls for 10-30w for temps down to zero.
If you live in sub zero, go 5-30w
As an aside, I live in Calif. and the service manager told me that I would get slightly better mileage if I went 5-30w, so, I am using 5-30w, because I can.
In the peak of summer, or if I go to a place >100 degrees(desert), I will switch to 10-30w

007, Mobil1 would be my recommendation to you. Royal Purple, Red Line, and Amsoil all make an excellent product, but i've used M1 going back to when I built up Grand Nationals. In my SC, I use M1 5W30 motor oil, M1 high efficiency oil filter, and M1 75W90 synthetic gear lubricant. Don't use anything but the Toyota Type T-IV in your SC4's auto trans, any company that tells you they have an equivalent synthetic is lying to you, Toyota doesn't release the formulation on it's ATF. Oh, and with 130K miles, I would recommend a synthetic blend to you as opposed to an all out synthetic, if you need the whole explanation, myself and Mean Gene have both posted a detailed explanation on the maintenance forum, go take a look.
