Default Two New Hood Struts from EBAY for $50 worked great.

Finally, an alternative to the overpriced stock hood struts. My Louisville Slugger was getting tired of holding up the ol' SC400 hood. Not to mention it is dangerous

Installed the new hood struts listed under LEXUS SC300 1992 to 1997 Hood Lift Supports by mrlousstuff (liftsupportdepot) about $50 for both. They worked great on my 93 SC400 (on Ebay it says for SC300 but fits the SC400). I had to unscrew the the old ball joints and use the new screw/ball that came with the new supports which fit perfectly. If you get these struts from Ebay, you will notice that the diameter of the rod and housing is slightly smaller, but the length and strength are correct.

Mrlousstuff has a great rep on EBAY and sells all kind of lift supports including the trunk struts for a good deal.

Hope this information helps someone as so many other's posts have helped me in the past.

Tim

Stock shocks will not work on CF hoods right? Too much pressure?

Thanks for the heads up.
Just bought a pair. I've been looking for them forever.

The ones on Ebay work great with stock hood. Not sure how they work with a hood half the weight. By doing a search on hood struts found: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ht=hood+struts

If you want a weak pair of struts for your CF hood, you can have mine for free. Pay actual shipping or pick em up in Alabama. They would barely hold the stock hood up in the heat, and would drop when cold so they may still be useless on your hood, who knows.

Good deal, hood struts for less than what most people are paying for the trunk struts. First I've heard that someone found proper new ones to fit in a chain store. Everyone knows how to get the trunk struts at a store for around that price.

If you remember the store you got them from and the part number, that information has not been shown in any thread I've seen. Would be great information for everyone to save even more.

I'll get it tonight. It was from Advance Auto and it was one of their most popular struts. There were three rows of them.

Got the struts by usps today and got the stock ones off during lunch time at work. I'll finish off after work and let you know of the outcome.

Can anyone get me the part numbers for the matched Autozone/Advance auto struts, or let me know if LS400 hood struts will fit on a sc400? Thanks
