Default Quick Question regarding fender rolling

I searched, but couldnt find this particular issue addressed.!

My car is a '00 and has rubber fender protectors screwed to the underside of the fender. (not sure if all models have this or not)

The issue is, people are telling me that I cant roll them because of the mounting points of that rubber piece. The fender has nuts welded along the inside perimeter, and I was told that the fender will warp when the roller hits those.

I've been told that my best option was to get a cutting wheel and trim the metal. While I dont really have a problem with doing that, I wanted some advise from some of you about this.

Is this true?

Yeah.....I took them off. (but put them back on so the fender lip doesnt cut the tire)

I went to 2 custom places that said I/they couldnt/wouldnt roll them. The only way it could be done was to cut them.

I figured you guys may have run into this as well and just wanted to know what the outcome was.

take out the rubber things and roll them, it will be fine and wont cut your tire as long as you roll it before driving around with it

i removed all rubber at all 4 corners. They leave a yellow screw tab behind wich i also removed(my car is black, it shows) I cut the Rears then grinded for smooth surface. Both fronts were hammered in. All painted with high gloss rustoleum. I am pretty low so i had to do this to fit 245F & 285R.I didnt roll beacuse just like you i wanted to retain fender liners but either way its lost. Plus you get that extra mm of clearance!!

245-45-18 +35 F
275-40-18 +35 R

Im worried that cutting will still cause problems when I drop. We can roll the edge to a point.....but rollin all the way will cause the warp.

Thanks for the input guys. Im gonna roll it...and if I have to, cut it if it wont clear. (I just dont really like cutting due to sacrificing fender integrity).

(dont worry about thread jacking......LOL)

You know what, trim it a bit and then roll it by using Eastwood/Tirerack fender roller.

I looked into that Eastwood roller.....haven't been able to find a place to rent one.....and they cost about $275.

I'll dig a lil deeper though....

I have a roller and when I rolled the fenders on a GS400 and took off the plastic/rubber lip protector. The squares for the lip protector clipped caused a small barely even noticeable because of the uneven material that you are trying to roll.

I tried rolling the fronts using an Eastwood roller and those little squares made indentations in the fender. I highly suggest cutting/shaving. It's much less headache.

Suggestion:

Buy the fender roller for $269+ and sell it for $200+. I've seen this on ebay go for $180 used with 4 days left.

I think that way is better instead of renting online. Plus, they are always out of stock.

Huh?

Are you saying you saw waves in the fender?
