1994 Lexus 400SC
Going to look at a 94 400SC this weekend, gold with beige interior, 134,000 miles, original owner and supposably serviced at Lexus dealer. Anything that I should really pay attention to outside of the ovious? The couple are asking $6,000 with very little room to play with. They bought a new Lexus. Thanks for any help.

$6,000 seems pretty decent to me. I might have paid too much for my SC, though ($8K w/ 130K). Try to find out the last time it was serviced and what was replaced. On mine, the timing belt needed to be replaced along with other things which costed me more than I expected it.

When I asked the woman about the timing belt change she said it was changed when it was supposed to be changed at Lexus but off hand didn't know exactly when. Has tires that were put on 6 months ago. They were out today so couldn't see it. I don't know about the color, champagne, don't think it's too popular. She said it was always garaged. It has been listed in the paper about a week now, I guess when people hear the mileage they shy away from it. If and when I see it I will ask for all the paperwork they have just to see what has been changed. She also mentioned that the brakes were done about a year ago and that the oil is changed every 5,000 miles. Thanks again guys for the input.

So the timing belt, etc. appears to have been done already along with other parts probably so that's very good in saving money in maintenance. It's the same color as mine, I think. I really like the tan/champagne/silver hue in lighter shades with a soft purple hue in darker shades. I've always wanted a Toyota/Lexus in this color, very clean and classy color.

I like the champagne ones, I couldn't find one for a good price in TX, so I ended up with a black one. I also think that 6 is kinda high though. If it's got all the paperwork on it, I think it'd be worth it, but always double check on everything, I'm sure in florida there's a lot of salt so be careful

If you really like it, then buy it. As long as you're happy with it, thats all that matter. I bought my 96 Pearl SC4 with 164k w/Vertex + 18 ADR's for $6.5k. It needs a lot of things fixed, but I love it. So it was worth every penny to me.
