Yup the driver's side is supposed to be that way. They probably figure that access/loading of the rear seat should be done on the passenger side like when you park on a street. You wouldn't want to do that from the driver's side.

What kind of cap did you get from home depot? The cap need to be able to screw on like how it was suppose to be...., I got mine at the junk yard....find a sc or an ls400 should work too, if your lucky the seat height is already all the way up

Heres my way of saying thanks back to the Club Lexus community.

cause really.. a Lexus with broken power seats is really just a no no!

Here we go, this is the passenger seat btw.

1. Remove seat *this can be hard when your seat is stuck all the way forward or back* get all the wrenches you have.

2. Look at bottom of seat

3. Locate white box on either side of the seat towards the back

4. Insert cap into place if you still have any *Search your car for em* they can pop out

5. Repeat for other side

If you like me had one of the caps missing entirely, you will have to go order the part. I don't remember what the part number is. someone will have to chime in on that.

the side of the worm gear closest to the motor is the one that pushes outwards on the cap with the most force. this is likely the one that has popped out or broken.

So there it is, no big deal. do yourself a favor and buy the caps before hand
then you wont have to worry about how to rig it up.

from removal to fix to install, 30 minutes if you have the caps.

your the man! when i got my sc a month ago my passenger seat was doing that and thanks to you it works now! great stuff man

I hate those things. I dont know why they pop off so easy. If you're like me and have your seat stuck a full back, you simply just stick a 10mm socket over the nut exposed in pics 3 and 4. Turing the nut will move your seat back and forth.

I don't need to let it back. I have it out but I need the cap. I went to the dealership and he tried to sell me the motor. I think i'm going to try to rig something up this weekend if I cant get the cap part number.

yeah i tried getting the part number for the caps but the parts guy could only find the little motor for 150 bucks! both my seats are done-zo and i really wanna fix them instead of buying a new seat track for each of them

Sorry to to resurect an old thread but I have a similar issue with my driver seat in my 93 sc400. The problem is it seems to only be the inside motor, like the one closest to the stick. Is it likely that this is the same issue. I am a big guy and the seat is almost all the way forward so it is a pain to get in and out and I cannot even see under the seat right now.

so what is the actual issue? Does this little cap prevent a bolt or pin or something from sticking out and catching so if the cap is gone this metal piece comes out and catches? I was worried the motor was burned out or something.

The cap prevents the worm gear from backing out as you move the rail.

so basically anything that will fit in there that will not "pop out" when the wormgear starts turning will do the trick, and one side requires alot more force to hold the gear in than the other, but the caps for both sides are the same.
I never found the part number for all those that are asking. maybe you could epoxy something in place but obvioulsy there is no turning back from that.

and you cant just put a round cap on the outside around the whole thing like i suspect the home depot guy above did. the worm gear needs to be stopped before it reaches the edge of the white circular housing for the side in pic #5

Default caps

For those of you who is looking for the caps, If there is pull-a-part or U-pull-it in your area just look for ls400 because there is plenty of them around and just get the caps from there...
