Default Window help?

So I got home yesterday after being out about an hour and went to put up my passenger side window and it wouldnt come up. When I push the button to put it down itll make noise, and then when i push it to go up itll make noise for a second, and then be silent. The noises are normal sounds that the motor makes when it normaly works. Anyideas whats wrong?

Most likely the little plastic piece on the regulator is broken.
You can try this: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-1st-gen-1992-2000/95720-window-regulator-fix-for-sc-models.html

Or you can just replace the whole regulator which is about $90 for the part.

If you want to roll your window up temporarily, press up on the switch until the motor stops turning. Then, carefully use some needle nose pliers to pull the window up enough so that you can grab it with your hand and manually pull up the rest of the way. I like to use the sandwich technique where I sandwich the glass with my hands and pull until it closes.

Ok so I brought it to a Toyota dealerand they saidit is in fact the regulator and that it was all one piece cost 685$. I have an extended warrenty on the car and they siad they do not cover regulators. I said that even though its one piece tht the motor, which they ould cover, is not at fault. Im saying that they should cover it because they consider it one piece and that the piece failed . I dont really knowwhat to do. I dont think im mechanicly inclined to do it myself. Any suggestions?

Thats pretty lame if the warranty does not cover it. What does your extended warranty cover? Look over the fine print and see if you can find something. Try taking it to a Lexus dealer for a second opinion or call for a quote.

I have heard of dealers replacing just the regulator with a new oem unit for about $200.

You can try to do it yourself as it is not too hard if you take your time. Look at all the pages of the thread mentioned above to give you an idea of what is involved. Took me a few hours the first time.

The warrenty only says it cover the window motor. I took it to a Lexus dealer first and they said that they dont accept extended warrenties because it takes too long to be paid, but I would be able to pay up front and the warrenty company would reimburse me, however itdoesntmatter because they wont cover it period. I was thinking about doing it myself, and attempted to this morning but couldnt get the door panel off. I searched on here and couldnt really find any detailed instructions on how to get it off? I guess its one of those common sense/obvious things that Im overlooking. Does anyone have a diagram of all the screws and stuff?

$685!?!?!?! holy crap. it's not a difficult project even if you are not mechanically inclined. my cable itself actually broke the other day so i bought a new regulator and motor for $75 shipped and I'm just waiting for the rain to stop until I go put it in, but taking the old one out was easy so putting the new one in it shouldnt be hard. don't spend $685, that is way too high.

Yea. I think Im just gonna go ahead and buy one. I pmed you back 1sicksc. Itll have to wait until my next check though. Had to pay my payment and insurance yesterday. Do you guys know if its possible to at least set it up and lock it at an upright position. I tried to use plyers andpull it up while holding the up button but had no luck, and its 18 degrees out here and Im riding with a window down.

the way i pulled it up was take the door panel off and take the white round part of the regulator off the motor and use some vice grips underneath the window on the rail that goes up and down.
