Default The SC becoming a hot car.

As more and more people start to realize that the Lexus SC (Particularly the SC300) is affordable, tunable,RWD and Supra-based and is now being picked up by alot of people, Do you guys have any concerns that the SC might become the next "Hot car" (i.e Honda Civic,Acura Integra,Nissan 240SX,etc...) and will be an easy target among car thieves? I originally chose this car, because I knew of it's tuning potential and I knew that it wasn't a car that was commonly seen on the streets...My hope is that the SC300 remains an "Underground cult status" car where there are many people (like us) that like 'em but, it's popularity never catches on to mainstream folks (i.e Minority car thieves,Naive teenagers,Young women and Cow tippers from the Mid-West). What do you guys think?

It makes no difference to me about the value of the car or who buys it and how they mod it. I could care less what anyone else thinks or does to their SC.

Oh yea search next time OP lol

The SC will never be a as hot as a Honda or Acura. Mods are alot cheaper for those cars and thats why people like them so much. I love Hondas and SCs and have owned both, but the SC is still a better car. Pluse the SC is to heavy compared to a honda and will never handel as good. Just My 2 cents.

I hope you're right about the SC never being as hot as Honda Civics and Nissan 240's.

I think the main thing that sets the SC aside from a Honda or Nissan is the price in tuning them. It's a well known fact that parts for an SC are a lot more expensive than say a Civic. I don't think that they will ever reach Honda status, mainly because there are practically 30 civics to every one SC.

I agree somewhat, but my counter point to that is the SC shares tuning components with another expensive car to tune (Supra) so there's still a possibility that it could reach Civic/240SX status...but let's hope I'm wrong.

This is not the case for me. I can afford a Supra and have owned a Supra. The SC is a more defined car IMHO and I would take it over a Supra any day.

Honestly the SC isn't as cheap as you guys think it is... At least to the average buyer.

I remember OLT making a thread about what it would really cost you to have a PROPERLY running and good looking car.

Sure the cars are cheap, but look at the condition most of the cars come in...

1. Interior/Exterior

2. High milage. (doesnt matter to most of us)

These things turn most buyers off. People who do fix them up dont always go through with it because eventually they see what it really costs to mod the car and not cheap out and every little piece.

Of course there are deals out there if you look hard enough.

Well so far, that's what the car seems to be since it hasn't reach the same status as that of the "mainstream" Honda Civic and Acura Integra.
