I decided to do an entire re-paint on this black on black 98 SC400. The paint was looking pretty tired. I went with the PPG Global series paint line. I had no idea how quickly the cost of paint supplies could add up. Dear god, between the primers, sealers, reducers, fixers, paint, sand paper, and wax & degreaser's I spent a near fortune. The painter I have chosen does not cut corners and his prep is second to none and his work shows. I can't get over how many steps there are to completing a properly done paint job. I can't wait to see the finished product. He has one more coat of sealer to put on before sanding again and applying the first new coat of black paint. I ordered the Rod Millen SC400 axle-back exhaust yesterday. I sure hope it fits the 98-00 models. They say it has only been test fitted on 92-97 models. I guess we will see in the next week or so. I also ordered new front Supra Turbo LCA's and rear sub-frame mounts so that I can install my old Supra turbo sway bars on this car. My entire interior is sitting on my work bench ready for a thorough Lexol cleaning and conditioning.

I tried Clay barring it and even attempted wet sanding the hood. The paint still looked dull in several spots. I also went back and forth on whether to shave or de-badge the rear trunk lid. I decided that if my dad does not like the look as much without the Lexus emblem, I can always cut the tabs off and re-tape it back on. So we welded the holes shut. This car I just purchased for my Dad. He has yet to see it. He loved his green 92 SC400 so much, and I came across this 98 and just had to get it for him. Once I bought it, reality set in and I realized how immaculate his car was, and that this one was no way near as clean or perfect on the exterior. So here I am now getting him a completely new paint job. This 98 has just under 97K miles on it and his 92 SC400 just hit 103K. So I have completely gone through and replaced all four rotors, pads, put stainless brake lines, put new oem NGK plugs, timing & serpentine belt, every single fluid changed over to AMSOIL, new front Supra Turbo LCA's, and also tinted the windows, changed the thermostat and radiator cap, replaced all of the bulbs with Sylvania Ultra whites. Yesterday I ordered the RMM axle back exhaust and can't wait to hear it. I also picked up two FRAM AIR HOGG filters for $6 bucks a piece so I am trying them out for the moment. I am waiting for the new front Supra Turbo LCA's and rear sub-frame mounts to arrive so that I can install my sway bar from my 98 Supra turbo 6 speed. The black leather interior on this car is about a 9 on a 10 scale, especially after removing everything form the car and spending 3.5 hours cleaning and re-conditioning the leather with Lexol. I was really impressed with the two Lexol products I used. I really would like to find him a matching wood & black leather steering wheel. So no I definitely will not be rolling his fenders. I will most likely put the MOMO wheel and tire package on shown in the pictures of his 92. I also have another brand new set of Michelin Pilot Sports in that odd ball size 245/45/18. I keep going back and forth on whether I should just put my Chrome 17" Supra Turbo wheels on this car but that is what I use on my Supra when I store it for winter here in MI. I would also have to go out and buy another set of 17 inch tires for these Supra wheels. Mine are about 50% worn. Who knows. I love the way those wheels look on the SC but I hated them on my Supra. First thing I purchased when I got my Supra was a set of Fikse FM/10's.
