Where can I find diagrams to help me take the seat apart? My leather for my 99 SC400 just arrived today. Shipping was pretty fast even though from China.

Someone said they got it from alldata.com?

You paid $490 for the skins off ebay? The leatherseats.com seats for tan SC400 are on ebay right now with a buy it now for $495. When they do it auction style, they often go for $400 or less. Oh, but wait, you had to go out and buy hog ring pliers and hog rings by the lb. The leatherseats.com kit came with the pliers and hog rings. So now tell me, who overpaid now?

If you call that overpaying for a proper OEM fitment without massive wrinkles, then I guess we know just how price sensitive you are.

BTW, it's been 3 years since the install and even the original Lexus leather showed deep creases after 3 years while the replacement leather has none. Still looks nearly new.

Now I really am starting to sound like I work for leatherseats.com

Just in case you didnt notice, I bought supra fronts with SC rear something leatherseats.com wanted to charge $150 JUST for mixing.

Oh and those Leatherseats.com ebay auctions are for sandstone color ONLY.

Hug rings were $10 for a huge bag. Still under your leatherseats.com's total price.

Wrinkles has nothing to do with the quality of the covers but the experience of the installer something I will admit I have never done before. And installing these on an older car with worn foam you will get more winkles if you are not a professionals.

If you are going t Even try and hang in a debate, make sure you are comparing all the variables and have your acts straight.

If you love leatherseats.com so much start your own brown nosing thread but don't taint this one.

There's no debate. I got a perfect factory OEM look with quality leather, a perfect color match, and fit for $525 shipped with all the tools necessary to do the install.

It was my first install too and my seats have 273K miles on them, so I suspect my foam was more worn than yours.

How about a few current photos of the seats? Did all of those wrinkles finally come out?

Um, not so fast, this same set with the front and back seats just sold on ebay for $410:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus...spagenameZWDVW

..and that's pretty high. I've seen the complete sets go for as little as $350.

I myself paid $525 shipped with the Club Lexus group buy. That included 10 lbs of hog rings and pliers.

Half price for kits that are identical to factory. My stock leather had vinyl on the backs too. That's why the brochure says leather on the "seating surfaces".

I guess it's all a matter of preference. When I restored the interior of my SC400 to factory new condition, I wanted it as authentic and stock as I could get it. The one place I deviated was the wood grain on the steering wheel.

BTW, have any pictures of your seats? Did those wrinkles finally come out? How are they holding up?

Heres a shot of mine when it first went on. Perforation was free. The kit CAME with hog rings. I just had to buy the pliers which was 5 bucks and came with MORE hog rings. Same ebay kit. Great fitment. Feels great. 400 bucks.

It'll be very rare where people would have a preference of having half leather half vinyl when replacing their OEM full leather...

time to end the debate. case closed. 2.5TSoarer you win!

What about those wrinkles? That's the second set with photos in this thread showing covers that seem like their a bit too large.

If you want to declare a winner. Fine. Just as long as all the info is out there so that those that want to make an in formed choice can. Personally, I wanted an authentic install that looked clean and tight like the car did when it was new. These sets look like they don't fit well enough for all the wrinkles to eventually work themselves out. Perhaps some photos a few months into the installs? They're pretty much going to shrink all the can by then.

BTW, Lexus didn't make the back strips vinyl because they wanted to cut corners, they did so because the vinyl trim stretches like a spring and has permanent elasticity. This makes getting a tight fit over the bolsters possible.

Oh, and it's not half and half. It's more like 90/10 leather/vinyl.

Most of the wrinkles went away. I have a few in the corners, but thats due to me being lazy. If I took more time to do the install there would have been zero wrinkles.

I don't see the big deal with having a few wrinkles anyway... Our 4runner leather has wrinkles in the leather and that's factory... I would say its a matter of preference...

If you like wrinkles. Buy this kit and DIY.

If you want your leather to be "factory" and "tight" spend a few more bucks and buy the other kit.
