Is my SC a former Mexican Drug smuggling vehicle? Gas Problem

Our cars are supposed to have a 20.6 gallon gas tank.
My car has never been in a major accident, I am the second owner, and I am positive the car has the stock tank.
That being said, no matter how low my gas gauge is I have NEVER gotten close to being able to put 20.6 gallons in.
I waited until I was on E, and my gas light was just starting to come on and off.
I go to the gas station, and fill up.
I get 16.35 gallons and I am full to the top. Anymore gas and I am spilling out into the overflow canister. This cost me around $53 @ 3.18/gal premium.
I am still getting around 300 and change miles per tank
This is not the first time I have noticed this, and I have often tried to get the gas as low as I feel comfortable before filling up.
What is going on? Did Lexus install a false bottom in the 1994 SC tank for smuggling pot across the Mexican Border?
Am I correct that my capacity should be 20.6 gallons?
How many gallons are supposed to be left in the tank when the low fuel light comes on?
Does anyone experience this?
I am not complaining, as I suppose I am saving gas money per fill up... but what is going on with my car?

I will hit E (without the light coming on).. but the needle is 100% on the E, yet I can fit no more than 15-16 gallons.
3-6 full gallons of gas seem like a bit much to still have when you are on E.
Ya know?

Luxury cars typically have the light come on way in advance.
my old camry had like 2 or so gallons, my folks avalon has a little bit more,
my sc seems to drive forever on E except for the fact I feel it doesn't run as well because its sucking up all the carp from the bottom of your tank.

It probably wasn't a Mexican Drug smuggling vehicle, since Lexus won't arrive in Mexico until later this year. ![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
However, since you peaked my curiosity with this question, in my own RX300 I have let it go to virtually sputtering on the fuel at my 1/4 mile track here and sure enough, when I filled it up, it got almost to its virtual equivlanet in liters of a full tank. I have been able to run over 25 miles on a highway easily (the long way on the one from my track to my apartment) on the fuel warning light and we even had one person in my forum who managed about 45 miles once.

the light come on early, intended by Lexus I think, for people not running the gas empty and stuck on the road.
When my light came on one time, I still drove 30 miles local before fill it up, and it was close to 20 gal.
if the light just come on, I can fill no more than 17 gal, same to all of my 9 SCs.
