Default Weight comparison: stock seats v. manual Supra seats

This week I'll be swapping my stock seats out for a pair of manual leather Supra seats. I knew they'd be a bit lighter, but needless to say I was surpried at just how light the non-power Supra seats are.

I took out the passenger seat and weighed it the best I could (trying to hold it and standing on my little bathroom scale). I didn't get an exact but it was ~60 lbs. I don't know yet if the driver's seat with the memory settings and everything is any heavier or the same.

Here's the weight of *both* of the new seats, in boxes with packaging.

Not only are they going to look better and hold MUCH better, I'm also going to save at least 60 lbs. out of the car. I know most of the people on here don't care how much their car weighs, but for those that do and have posted about it before, this thread is for you.

I currently have my SC400 advertised for sale for one reason only. Its weight not only slows it down, but also hurts handling. Me and a lot of owners are very interested in weight reduction. Thanks for the info. Let us know if you can weigh the drivers seat. I love the comfort of the Lex. seats, but out of fairness have not had a chance to set in the Supra seats to compare.

They're comfy in the way that my couch is comfy. If you've gone for a ride in a Supra the seats are still really comfy but actually hold you in place while they do it.

They're black leather ones. I'll pull it out and weigh it today too. over40driv, you were actually the one at the forefront of my mind when I made this thread.

Tan that's slowly changing. Black steering wheel/steering column and center console. Tan seats would have looked better right now but black is the direction I'm headed.

Gunnar, can you tell us the venue that you decided was the most bang for the buck to get your Supra seats?

I bought them from RedPhoenix, actually. He knew I wanted a non-power set pretty badly so when he was ready to sell them he sent me a PM and he's worked with me on getting them shipped up here from Florida, which hasn't been easy. UPS wanted over $300 just to ship two 30 lb. boxes. I'd suggest just hawk the classifieds here and on SupraForums and you'll come up with a deal. There are a few sets for sale on SF right now I know.

Reducing weight is great. I dropped 100lbs by swapping in my set of Sparco's.
Gunnar, i'm pretty sure the stock seats are heavier that the 60lbs you got.

Just pulled the driver's side seat out. I'm not a small guy by any means and I'm breathing heavy after carrying it around the car to put it with the passenger seat. I'm going to weigh it here in a minute.

Gadget, I'd bet they are. If someone had definite data I'd be glad to see it. I stood on the scale, then stood on the scale doing my best to hold the seat over it as well, and I got ~60 on the passenger side, I've heard 70/80 though. I don't have a big enough scale to do it by itself though.

The only thing I know for sure is how much the new seats weigh with maybe a pound of shipping stuff on them.
