Questions for 1992-95 SC300 owners
I am in the market for a 92-95 SC300, and am interested in some functions found on later cars, and would like to know if earlier cars have them. I am trying to figure out if I should try to find a specific model year due to some features, or not.
First, does the steering wheel automatically tilt up when you exit the car? And/or the seat move back?
Second, do the headlights come on automatically, or do they have to be turned on.
Third, when did the SC300 receive an airbag for the passenger?
Any other major updates I should know about from 92-95?
Thank you very much for your time.

Answers: ( I have a 93 sc400)
1) Yes, the steering wheel tilts up when you exit the car. The seat belt stays put - it's not automated
2) On the 93 and up models, the lights have an auto on feature. The 92 does not have this feature.
3) Not sure about the 300, but I know the 400 did recieve a passenger side airbag in the 93 model.

Thanks for the reply.
So these features apply to the SC300, also? Were the only differences between the SC300 and SC400 the engine, choice of tranny and wheels and cosmetic stuff? But no interior differences?

95 SC300s did not go to ODBII; that was 96 or 97
I'm running ODBI myself
and yes the 95s got updated taillights... and the tranny tunnel is larger underneath that the previous models... easier to do a 6-speed swap on them

the auto light option they are referring to is another setting past on that says "auto" there is a sensor on the front that turns the lights on and off automatically durring the day and on at night or when you pull into a parking garage etc.
What do you mean by valet passenger seat?

Ikon,
We're talking about when the sunlight get dark enough the 93+ SC headlight will turn on. Its funny sometimes when I drive under a bridge when there are not enough sunlight the headlight turn on and automatially off when the car is out in the light again. I spoil on this fact that I never have to worry about turning my head light on when I go through a tunnel.
