My SC400 is due for a 60K service. The quote from the dealer is about $1,000. An outside shop with technician who previously worked with Toyota/Lexus auto quoted about $600-$700. I haven't used this shop before but over the phone they seemed very professional.
My questions are:
1. Are most of you use outside shop for maintenance or is it better to stick with the dealer for after warranty repair/service?
2. What should I look for in a shop? Anybody knows a reputable shop in the Las Vegas/Henderson area?
3. Do the valves need adjustment for 60K? The dealer said yes... the shop said it depends (without the valve adjustment it would be $400)
Thanks in advance for your replies...

I'd say stick with the shop you're most familiar with, and considering that it's post warranty work,it has no bearing on future repairs.
After reading about the dealer horror stories,I'd be bummed to hear about someone else being taken for a ride again.
I would do the valve adjustment,and consider the plugs and wires too,if that's not included,as mine went bad/wierd before the recommended mileage,makes a big difference overall.I had a hesitation,and a hunch,so I replaced them.
You might try and get the mechanic to check the valves, and if any are out of spec, then do the adjust, after agreeing on a price either way.
That's what I'd do anyways.
